The unique structure with its many cantilevers required innovative shoring and support solutions

56 Leonard Street
Manhattan, New York, United States

New York City skyline, 56 Leonard is expected to set new benchmarks for luxury condominiums. Designed by the Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron, the residential tower has a Jenga-like appearance with multiple cantilevered layers throughout its height.
Forming balconies was particularly difficult because many go around corners. PERI accommodated the resulting unique challenges with custom solutions using standard components such as GT 24 Girders for the slabs and platforms supported by MULTIPROP aluminum shores, SRU Walers and SRS Spindles for transferring the loads at angles and for perimeter protection. Tight schedules and limited space for material storage added to the challenge.
