The New York skyline just got another building added to it

625 West 57th St
New York, United States

This massive Manhattan new rental development project, designed by Danish star architect Bjarke Ingels, requires a flexible perimeter protection system to accommodate the unique tetrahedron-shape of the building. The sloped design allows open views of the Hudson River and brings the low western sun deep into the apartments. To secure the perimeter, the contractor chose PERI’s light protection screen, LPS. It is lightweight and therefore assembles quickly and easily by hand with a simple clamping connection. It can be telescopically adjusted to accommodate complicated building shapes – this also facilitates transportation in a city like New York, where space is scarce. The hydraulic rail climbing mechanism allows for rapid progress when securing the next level.

PERI Engineers were able to modify the system to accommodate the complex geometry of this challenging structure. The versatile and innovative design of the system allowed for existing panels to be easily relocated to other areas as the building changed shape.
