Minsi Lake Dam and Spillway

Located in the Slate Belt, a 22 square-mile area located 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia lies Minsi Lake. In 2017, the dam located near the 117-acre lake was deemed structurally deficient by the Department of Environmental Protection, The result: draining the 50-year-old lake and relocating the fish.

Due to the intensifying storms that caused flooding, it was necessary to repair the spillway and dam. The infrastructure project included the raising of the dam due to erosion and creating a labyrinth spillway to allow the maximum possible floods to pass.

PERI provided 4,600 sq. ft. of formwork to Performance Construction to complete the project. The contractor chose the TRIO Panel Formwork system with 9 ft. base panels to form the walls that vary from approximately 10 feet to 20 feet high.

Minsi Lake was named one of the Top 10 Waters to Watch nationally by the National Fish Habitat Partnership.
